On Basis of which Symptoms Homoeopathic Medicines should be prescribed?

Homoeopathic medicines are no doubt very effective. They give permanent restoration to health, but, if they are not selected on right basis, then they would do no benefit to patient. Then question, is, on what basis a Homoeopathic medicine should be prescribed?

Homoeopathic medicines are supposed to be always selected on basis of totality of symptoms. But, question is, what type of symptoms, forms this totality of symptoms? What types of symptoms are included under totality of symptoms? In short, “On basis of which type of symptoms Homoeopathic medicines should be prescribed”?

Following set of symptoms should be considered while prescribing Homoeopathic medicines, which not only forms totality of symptoms but also totality of a case on which whole Homoeopathic prescription should be made-

1)      Number one symptom to consider is uncommon, peculiar, characteristic symptom which is peculiar to a person and not found in any other person of same disease.

2)     Mind symptoms- which are peculiar to a person, as every person has his or her own set of peculiar mind symptoms, which are subjective to them and not peculiar to any other with same disease.

3)      Marked general symptoms, which runs through whole case and not to count common general symptom which is found in every patient.

4)     Main chief complaint or main chief particular symptom for which patient has come to doctor to take treatment.

5)      In acute cases, for prescribing Homeopathic remedy only main chief complaints and its peculiar uncommon characteristic symptom of a case and also physical generals like appetite, thirst, temperament, desires, aversion, urine, stool, perspiration and dreams symptoms are considered while prescribing Homoeopathic medicines. Cause of chief complaint due to which chief complaint occurs is also very important during prescription process.

6)      In chronic case, along with chief complaint, history of chief compliant, cause of chief complaints, birth history, family history, past history of patient, in case of women menstrual history, obstetric history, physical generals of case, mind symptoms and uncommon, peculiar characteristic symptoms, marked general symptoms should be considered while prescribing Homoeopathic medicines.

7)     Miasms- should be considered while prescribing Homoeopathic medicines which are psora, sycosis, and syphilis namely. Prescription should also be made taking consideration of fact that from which miasm patient is suffering?

8)     Individuality of patient must be considered, idiosyncrasy, if any from which patient is suffering must be take into consideration.

9)     Susceptibility of patient
Susceptibility of patient of catching various infections and suffering from various diseases again and again is supposed to be considered while considering symptoms for making Homoeopathic prescription.
