How Subjective Symptoms are different from Objective Symptoms?


In previous articles of Homoeopathic Blog on symptomatology, I have discussed with you about subjective symptoms. Also I have discussed about objective symptoms. Today, we will discuss about what is difference between subjective symptoms and objective symptoms? For example, subjective symptoms cannot be measured with a test. Whereas objective symptoms can be. Like that there are around 5 difference between subjective symptoms and objective symptoms. Lets discuss each of them in detail.

Know 5 difference between subjective symptoms and objective symptoms in detail-

Subjective symptoms and objective symptoms has following set of differences, they differ from each other in following respects-
  • Subjective symptoms are very personal to patient, only patient knows about them whereas objective symptoms are non-personal; they can be observed by anyone and therefore known to everybody.
  • Subjective symptoms cannot be measured or detected with help of any laboratory tests whereas objective symptoms can be measured with help of laboratory tests available.
  • Subjective symptoms bears close similarity to term ‘symptom’ being non-observable like them, whereas objective symptoms bears close similarity to term ‘signs’, which can be observed by anyone.
  • Subjective symptoms of every person are different. Whereas objective symptoms of each disease are different, but of persons suffering from same disease are same.
  • Subjective symptoms assist in individualizing a case, therefore, help in diagnosing Homoeopathic remedy of a case whereas objective symptoms help in diagnosing a disease.

So, that was difference between subjective symptoms and objective symptoms.
