It is primary action of drug, the only difference due to which it is given name of alternating action is that in it various effects which drug produce on administration to living human being, some of them appear repeatedly on alternate basis after another until the primary action of drug finish its full course of action.

That is, these various effects, symptoms produced on administration of drug in primary action of drug divide themselves in groups. One of these groups appear first and when first group symptoms vanish, then second group symptom's effects appear. And, when this second group symptoms vanish, then again the first group symptoms appear.

That is, first group symptom alternately appear again, when second group symptom vanish and this cycle goes on until the primary action of drug totally finish its course, and until secondary action of drug starts.

So, does, this alternating action of drug is manifested in drug proving of all drugs? No, alternating action of drug is not manifested in drug proving on human beings by all drugs. It is manifested by very selective number of drugs and that too, by very few dynamized Homoeopathic Medicines in drug proving on human beings. Not, every dynamized Homoeopathic Medicine manifest them, only rare selective category manifest them.
