Difference between Acute Diseases and Chronic Diseases according to Homoeopathy

According to Homoeopathic system of classification of diseases, acute diseases differ from chronic diseases in many respects. For example, acute diseases are caused by exciting cause, whereas chronic diseases are caused by miasms. Like that there are around 6 difference that acute disease has from chronic disease. Lets discuss each of them in detail. 



The various differences which acute diseases have from chronic diseases, ways in which acute diseases differ from chronic diseases according to Homoeopathic system of classification of diseases are-

1.      According to Homoeopathic system of classification of diseases, acute diseases are caused by some exciting cause which is morbifically inimical to human body and also dynamic in nature whereas chronic diseases are caused by chronic miasms.

2.      Acute diseases have sudden onset, progress rapidly whereas chronic diseases have gradual onset and progress slowly.

3.      Duration of illness is fixed for acute diseases; they are of very less or moderate duration whereas chronic diseases progress for a long unlimited period of time if not controlled at right time, that is, they are of long duration.

4.      Acute diseases can be cured by medicines but sometimes they get recovered themselves whereas chronic diseases require medicinal aid to extinguish them as they cannot get cured itself by vital force alone, they require medicinal aid if damage done to vital force is too much.

5.      According to Homoeopathic system of classification of diseases, acute diseases are of following three subtypes-
a)      Individual acute diseases.
b)      Sporadic acute diseases.
c)      Epidemic acute diseases.

Whereas chronic diseases have following three subtypes-
a)      Pseudo chronic diseases.
b)      Artificial chronic diseases.
c)      True chronic diseases.

6.      In acute diseases, symptoms and signs of disease are sharply noticeable whereas in chronic diseases they are ill-defined and with routine habit of suffering from them for prolonged period of time some symptoms patients usually forget in chronic diseases.
